Bahamas - The first experience in paradise.
Green Turtle Cay is as beautiful as it is famous. It was our first experience with the silky Caribbean sand.

Emmanuelle
Claude and Greg (Bro's) had to walk a ways to set our huge 2kg bruce anchor.
The mansions of New Plymouth in Green Turtle Cay were always colorfully painted in pastels. Rum was very very cheap.
Marsh Harbour was an excellent fully enclosed harbour, two days from Green Turtle Cay. Twice a day all 55 boats anchored would touch bottom; the usual shallow Bahama water.
Although shallow, it was very beautiful. This is an AquaPro 10' dingy, aluminum hulled, with the dependable 8 hp Evinrude to push it on to a plane with 2 people; call it the taxi.
To get around we rented a couple of Harley's for our motorcycle mommas.
We visited the beautiful Treasure Cay and its white powder sand beaches. At the restaurant we had 'Conch' Burgers. MMmmmm
Sailing out of Marsh Harbour we passed one of the many private islands. We believe this was once owned by Queen Elizabeth II.
We headed for Hopetown Harbour with friends. The lighthouse visible just to the right of the mast.
Lauritz steered the good sailing ship Alisee (GPS being a familiar aid to every airline pilot), Bradon provided advice on where he though we should all go, and Lynne was happy to have a few quiet moments. (OK, OK, seconds)
The entrance channel was very shallow, we had about 2" to spare and you had to navigate with in a narrow channel.
Once inside, the harbour was a true, enclosed hurricane hole, very pretty.
Many pretty houses surrounded us.
Alisee III in the foreground with the one-of-a-kind mechanically driven Hopetown light house in the background. The locals didn't want this built as they were making too much from salvaging wrecks!
Alisee III
The lightkeepers house and his charge. Always pretty pastel colors.
We often traversed town (one street) to go to the beach.
And it was a stunning beach. This despite a Hurricane taking most of the Palms.
Bradon partying with Jennifer and Emmanuelle.
Boogie boarding was a favorite no matter where we went. Emmanuelles days with arm Floaters were numbered, she soon turned into a veritable fish.
The Mamens headed home and soon we were steering for Nassau with a few stops on the way. Catherine enjoys helming.
We arrived at a night anchorage which turned out to be beautiful.
The anchorage was pristine.
The Princesses enjoyed the fire on the beach.

We left early the next day and sailed with a couple of other boats to Eluthera. No fish though!
We encountered a few other boats on the way. Needless to say we kept out of the way.
At our anchorage in Eluthera we enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
The next day we made passage to Nassau. Jennifer enjoyed reading her Barbie books. It was a beautiful sail.
Catherine wrote in her journal and Emmanuelle enjoyed playing Barbie.
Next, our arrival in Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas..
