After working hard, we treated ourselves to a trip on the northeast coat of Trinidad, to go see the leatherback turtles which come to lay their eggs on the beaches.

Because of the rain, eggs are being washed away in the sea.
A baby turtle makes its way to sea and freedom..
A leatherback turtle goes back to sea after laying about 100 eggs..its 5 in the morning.
Jakatan, a local earth person in his Harvard MBA shirt, shows Jenny how the turtle burries its eggs.
Grande Riviere Beach is about 1 mile long. Up to 100 turtles may come in one night.
Baby turtles are being rescued each day and released to sea at night. This is to protect them from scavengers.
About 200 babies are released each day...
